The Monday after Labor Day is National Boss/Employee Exchange Day. This sounds like a great idea on paper, but what if your boss is a mystery to you? Once upon a time, I had a real job. I liked my boss personally, but professionally I just felt like he and I were on different planets. And, according to a creepy tool called Crystal, he and I were as well matched as Michael Scott and Toby Flenderson from “The Office.”

Crystal uses artificial intelligence to analyze people’s social media presence and any correspondence you’ve exchanged. Then it puts your connection into a personality profile to give you insights on their motivations, communication preferences, personality traits and more. Yes, it is a step too far, and that’s why I call it #HelpfulButCreepy.
